Preheater Hose Option. Facts or Fiction? 200

Over the years I have heard multiple stories concerning the Preheater hose in the 240 series. I did some background check on the brickboard and I found 3 different opinions

1. The preheater hose might cause the failure of the AMM Sensor in case the thermostat gets stack at the open position. I causes more bad than good.

2. The preheater hose helps emissions only during cold starts. It doesn't effect the engine after the warm up period

3. The preheater hose helps emissions in General and without it the car might fail emission tests or this is what IPD Says

I miself find 1 and 2 believable......The 3rd one looks to me like "fiction"

What do you guys think?
