Okay, call it a quest, call it an obsession, call it what you want. The deal is that I paid 150 bucks for a 240DL wagon that had about all of the available options. I made this determination when I read here that the sunroof it did not have was not available on 240 wagons. Well, I just read that, at some point in time, 240s were available with power mirrors at some point, and since then, I have not been able to get it out of my head that I GOTTA HAVE POWER MIRRORS!
Couldn't find a 240 with power mirrors at my local haunt for a bolt-on replacement job, but I did find that the guts out of 700 and 900 mirrors will just bolt into my mirrors. The rest is just wiring. So, I got all of the stuff today that I need to do the job, but I have a few things I'm wondering about.
There's the perennial question: has anyone else done this? Anything I should watch out for?
More importantly, does anyone out there have a 240 with power mirrors? Where are the little joysticks mounted? I'm thinking of putting mine in a blank spot on the center console, or on the blank plate under my small clock, next to the stereo (never got around to putting in the oil pressure guage). If I could get an idea of where Volvo put them, though, and if it's possible and not to tough to do it the same way, I'd rather do that.
Also, does anyone know where I could come up with a pair of interior trim pieces which don't have the manual mirror handles? I could fabricate some sort of blank for mine, but it would, of course, look better just to have the real deal.
Thanx in advance,
-EdM.
