kickdown cable problem 700

No, you cannot just swap it with the one that you currently have. The current one you have is probably about half a step behind the one you want to replace. Once they have been installed for any length of time the plastic part that snaps into the trans gets too brittle to remove without breaking it. Buy a new one and install it properly, do a little searching around this sight and bay 13 and you might come up with a tutorial on how to do it. Take the pan off and take a look at it, you will see that it is relatively straight forward. Make sure you have some way to contain the mess as there is going to be one as soon as you get that pan off and make sure you can keep everything nice and clean. Your only real concern is that you get the new cable stop crimped on properly and in the correct place and that you get the new cable adjusted properly once the trans is in. If you cannot find a decent tutorial feel free to E-mail me for advice and I will walk you through it step by step.
