Removing the early style dash. 200 1980

After one day/a few hours of working on the heater core in my '80 245 DL, most of the stuff that needs to be removed has been pulled, except for one thing: The dash.

The Bentley book has instructions for removing a dash, but it's for the later models, and I wasn't quite able to follow them.

Is there a key difference between removing my early style dash vs. the later style dashes?

I have quite a story to tell after about 4 hours worth of work this evening, involving the police! That will come in another thread though.

Thanks as always.
