Heater core: Is it possible to install it backwords? 200 1980

I don't think it would make a difference which end faces where when all is said and done, but with as much work as it is to get at this thing, I want to make sure it goes in right the first time.

So the question is real basic: Does it matter which hose connects to which end of the heater core?

Thanks as always.

(I pressure tested the old heater core just for kicks, and man, it was leaking bad.)

(Good to know this whole thing wasn't in vain!)
