The switch to 12 Volt was completed by 1963.

Determining mileage by visual inspection is extremely difficult. Some folks just take excellent care of thier vehicles. Of course, abandonment might not be a sign of being completely enamored. A set of detailed service receipts since new might be a better indication of actual miles.

In any case, its wonderful that the car might now begin a new life of restoration. Congrats on finding a bit of treasure.
