Quick Questions: 444-544

You say you're using an '88 Ford Ranger (2wd) rear end. What was required to make it fit? New pads, link plates???

What is the ratio, and does it have the same width and use the same bolt pattern as the original Volvo?

The Spicer 27 4.11:0 rearend under my '65 PV544 is nearly at the end of its life. It will need new gears and all new bearings throughout if I intend to drive it much longer.

I'd like to get into a 3.73:1 or higher ratio if I can do it without too much trouble - like shortening tubes & axle shafts! Redrilling flanges to change the bolt pattern isn't a big deal, but I'd rather not have to do it.

Vintage Volvo hulks are non-existant in our local wrecking yards, but there are tons of old Range pickups.

Thanks!

Steve
