240 heat doesn't seem adjustable?

Hello:

This is classic early heater valve failure-- it ends up being effectively either on or off. Replacement valves seem to take two forms-- one is like the original early system, the other is a more widely available manual style system.

I bought one of the manual ones, which looked just like the one I was replacing on my '92 245. I am not sure of exactly when the transition took place between the old and new style valves.

Installation of the new system is a bit of a pain because the location-- tight working quarters. Adjusting the travel of the cable is also a bit of a pain that requires some operation of the car to check it out. Price was on the order of $35 from FCPgroton.com.

Good luck!
