Smell 700

The day before yesterday I noticed a smell when I got out of the car (90 740 GLE 16 valve, 165K miles) after a short drive. The same happened on my return home and again yesterday.I dont get the smell inside the car,only when I step out. I dont know if it comes from under the car or from the engine compartment. The smell is pretty similar to the one of a burning candle,wax or even burned plastic...
Did anybody has ever had similar experience? Tks
