My car is destined to never have a working Odometer

I have tried three different speedo heads. Made sure the gear for the odometer is good. Still no movement of the numbers. This is an 87 so it has the k9800 electronic speedo. Not really intersted in taking the cluster out again. But if someone has an idea - I will entertain it.
