M46 - OD kicks out in cold weather: UPDATE 200

The original thread is here:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1025502

I resoldered the relay several days ago and then waited out the unseasonably warm weather we've had here in the midatlantic.

When I first reinstalled the relay it was around 60 degrees and I checked for the clicking sound by putting the car in 4th while parked with the clutch in and pressing the button. I heard the click and the OD light came on.

We had a freeze here last night, so this morning before driving or letting the car warm up, I did the same thing and got no click and no OD light. I tried holding the gear shift in various places within the 4th gear position but no change in result.

I tried the same test at a stop light after driving a few miles and I got a positive response - clicking sound in the dash & the light came on. I assume this means the switch is probably bad and, since that level of repair is beyond me, I will be taking her in to the mechanic as soon as I get a chance. I will post again to let you know what they do.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH THIS REPAIR SHOULD RUN IN A SHOP? I understand that the part is around $30 and it involves 4 or 5 hours of labor - is that correct?

Thanks again for the people who responded to my post, as well as all the other posts that were in the archives.
