Hello, I am wondering about a change in my steering. My steering has always been tight, meaning that it didnt seem like it had power steering while sitting still. After a discussion about oil in the boot of a cam gear rack, I decided to add some to mine. I added about 2oz to one boot as described in the green manual for steering, although I think I added less than recomemded from fear of overfilling. While adding the oil, I noticed that the metal line that runs between the boots wasnt in the hole in the boot, it was just open to the air. I put the tube back in the opening on the boot and clamps the boot shut. Now, while sitting still, the steering has intermitent power, but not steady. What I mean is that while turning the wheel, the power comes and goes in a pulsation about every half second. Also, while driving, if I am going over 45 or so and put on brakes, my wheel get a shimmy in the steering wheel as though my rotors are out of round. I just put new pbr pads and brembo rotor on 3 months ago and they have been working great. As well, while cruising, I am getting a vibration/wiggle in the steering wheel that is making a slight clunking noise somewere in the steering, but feels like it is comming from just behind the steering wheel. What is going on? If I replace the boots when I do my tie rod ends in a few days, is there any way to clean the parts on the inside of the boot? Having the tube from the boot open to the air and dirt, I think there must be some grime in there that I need to get out for the sake of the seals in my rack. Anyone have any advice for me? Thanks kenneth
