Pedal Box Conversion 140-160

Take a look at the linkage shown in the parts catalog at genuine classic parts. (gcp.se) They are very supportive of the old Volvo hobby and have a load of parts.

It seems the gas pedal has its own linkage box attached to the firewall.
Can't really tell if it would be adaptable to a pre '73.

When I converted my '72 to a four speed from a '73 I found that the pedal boxes are not interchangeable. The early style bolted at the firewall and the lower dashboard. The later one at the firewall only.

Don't think that makes much difference for what you want to do other than it is a separate box.
