740 turbo B230FT check Engine Light problem 700

OK guys, I need your collective expirence on this one!
I just did an engine swap in my 1991 740 turbo wagon. I couldn't stand the piston slap sound any longer, so I took a gamble on a "you pull it engine". NOTE: The original engine ran like a Banshee! but the noises at start-up, left alot to be desired.
After installing the engine, I picked up a few codes after the initial start up. The first was a bad ECT sensor, I replaced it and now the car starts-up a lot easier!
After clearing the codes again, the car starts right up, but after putting the car under load, the check engine light re-appears and the codes comes up as 1-4-3(knock sensor signal absent or faulty). I replaced the Konck Sensor with the operational unit from the original B230FT engine and it reacts the same. Checked the connector and wiring, retorqued the bolt properly, but still the code re-appears after placing the car under load.
Help! I just don't want to go out and spend $50.00+ dollars on a new knock sensor to learn that it wasn't the sensor, but rather, I missed something simple along the way.
PS: Also checked to make sure that I didn't switch the wiring connector from the block temp sensor with the knock sensor. everthing was correct.
