Old engine - coolant thickening 120-130 1966

8 or 9 months ago Ben developed a crack in the radiator of the celery wagon
and it was leaking continuously. So we drained the coolant from that car and
also from the gray wagon, which had been sitting a long time, and traded
radiators. Then I took the one from the celery wagon, got it fixed, and
we put it back on the gray wagon. We put the same coolant back into both
radiators, what we had drained out. When we pulled the engine on the celery
wagon the coolant was the normal green color and looked fine. But when we
drained the coolant from the gray wagon, it was the right color but VERY
syrupy and seemed to have something growing in it. Not quite as thick as
pancake syrup, but close. This coolant had been in the car for a long time
during which the engine had not been run, except the short time we had it
running when we finally got it going, suddenly terminated by fuel overpressure
problems. We drained both the radiator and the block drain and the coolant
coming from both places was the same. No evidence of rust in it but the
dark blobs in it were kinda like snot. The only thing I can think of that
might have contributed to this, other than time and stagnation, would be that
we put the freshly-repaired radiator on it and there might have been some
residue from the repair or cleaning.
Any of you guys ever experience thick coolant with dark blobs/boogers in it?
