Minimum clearance between piston and head 120-130

Assuming stock cast pistons, a head gasket that compresses to .028, bearings that are in good shape and do not have excessive clearances, a rev limit at 7,000 or below, a clearance of .030 is theoretically OK. However, its at the lower limit of OK. In other words, .028 is too little. So considering that the machining tolerances for decking the block may leave the block a few thou taller at one end or the other, and your measurement might not be entirely accurate for each cylinder ( did you measure each one ? ), I would tell them to take say .027 or .028 off instead of .030. So if you end up with .032 or .033 clearance, you will still have a good running engine. If it ends up .027 or .028 you could have a problem. I'm also a little suspicious of the .032 down measurement, as that's a good deal more than normal.
