Number three...number three...number three... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S Wagon. Poor performance, random misfiring and other maladies unexplained caused me to do some further investigation into what was ailing sweet Virginia. Here are my findings:

Compression 1-2-3-4: 165-185-35-185

No, that is not a typo.

Plugs: the mystery deepens. The insulator that is exposed to the combustion chamber surrounding the center wire is white on cylinders 1 and 4 and brown on cylinders 2 and 3.

I poured a little motor oil into cylinder 3 and checked the compression again; I got about a 5 lb. boost.

Help a newbie diagnose this problem. Can I not drive this car at all? Short distances? Low speed? Help?

I checked the valve lash on #3 - copacetic.

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
