Help re front windshield replacement location '86 240 DL sedan

Yes ! I saw your type of windshield on a Volvo that was older than a 93. It was just a few days ago, and I was intrigued by it for the very reason that you mention. Namely the black trim, which would make the ‘86 metal frame unnecessary. My present frame is definitely in need of replacement, so this would work well.

Mine is a 240, rather than a 244, but it is likely that they use the same windshield, correct ?

If they are the same windshield, I would have to look for a “93 model” 240 windshield, also correct ?

And the “93 model” windshield should have no reason that it would not fit in a 1986 240 DL, also, also correct ? A whole separate point is if one could install and caulk the new one – by oneself. Probably not a good idea.

But if I brought the windshield to a replacement place, they might only charge me the labor to install it.

I do very much appreciate this tip. I welcome any suggestions for where one could buy one without being gouged with a high markup. I would imagine that new, not used, 93 240 windshields are still available.
