Persistent check light coming on 900 1995

940 year 95, non-turbo

I am getting this persistent check engine light that the DTU coded as 2-1-2. That refers to the O2 sensor. I've changed that (a new unit from Volvo) but the light continues to come on. I reset the DTU but the check light come on after a few kilometers on the road. I have to do this before I start every trip. Spoken with the mechanic who suspects it is the wiring (He is not good in this area).

I need guidance on how to check the wiring. I read somewhere here sometime ago that the 8-pin connectors at the right and left corners of the firewall may have something to do with that. I can't find that thread anymore. I took a look at the 8-pin connectors, there are 3 such connectors on the left side and 2 on the right side. Can someone tell me where do I start. As always I thank you all in advance for all your help, advice, and guidance.

Thanks
Laozong
