1993 940 Wiper Motor: Sounds of imminent failure? 900

Recently my wiper motor began making a relatively high pitched moan when activated. It's cold here now - about 15F at night. I would further describe the sound as similar to that of an old, tired, drill - sort of loose bearing / spun bearing.

Do these motors fail? Should I pull the motor and service the linkage? The vehicle is originally from Florida and has about 98k miles.

Thanks in advance.
