Got first ever check engine light - code shows O2 sensor, some questions.... 200

As mentioned, code shows O2 sensor. Car runs well, only indication anything might be wrong is that I can't seem to attain the gas mileage I once did. However, a tune-up might help too!!!

Question - should I investigate further to make sure the code is accurate or should I just bite the bullet and replace the O2 sensor as preventative maintenance? So as to protect the cat etc.. I have owned the car for 100K and I haven't replaced it. Don't know if it is the original or has already been replaced once.

Is this a difficult job? Does the generic one work well or should I go with Bosch??

Thanks all!

Merry Christmas!!
