1992 940 Turbo - Reverse struggles - in Neutral goes forward 900 1992

I am new to the forum and am hoping to get advice to repair my transmission problem.

ORIGINAL SYMPTOMS:

In Drive, the car would have occasional slight shifting delays between 1st & 2nd and 2nd & 3rd

ACTION:

Mechanic adjusted then replaced the kick down cable.
Power flushed the transmissiona and replaced the transmission fluid

CURRENT SYMPTOMS:
In Reverse, the car (intermittently) struggles like it is fighting itself to back up, requiring exertion on the gas peddle to attempt backing. Sometimes it won't back up at all.

In Neutral, the car (again intermittently) goes forward instead of idling.

In Drive, it is OK with the same occasional slight shifting delays between 1st & 2nd and 2nd & 3rd

I don't know what to do now.... Does any one have a suggestion that might point to the problem causing these symptoms??
thanks,
Dan in Springfield, VA
