Noisy belts/pulleys-new accessory bushings? 200

89 240 sedan, non-turbo, 162K

I get a lot of either belt or pulley noise, seems to come from near the water pump pulley. Loudest with cold engine, then quiets some as engine warms. I can see that the alternator pulley is slightly behind the plane of the water pump pulley, so no surprise why there is noise. A couple of years back, I replaced the alternator accessory bushings with yellow poly bushings from FCP, but as soon as I re-attached the belt to the alternator and tensioned it, I could see the alternator twist slightly. I've seen a few posts about the accessory bushings that IPD sells, and I'm wondering if it's time to give them a try.?

Also, shouldn't the alternator pulley line up in the same plane as the water pump pulley?

Thanks,
Mark
