AutoTransmission Hard to Shift 200

Certain days the tansmission shifts hard in my 1993 240, and makes a thump when going from reverse to drive or drive to park. I have not noticed any correlation with temperature. Would switching to synthetic be beneficial? The transmission was rebuilt 5k ago.
