My Kind of Problems.... 200 1988

Welcome Brostugen,

Unfortunately, since most of the people who post on this board havent's seen the setup you have in your brick, we may not be of more than general help with a carbuerated B230. Maybe some of our Australian friends might have seen that variant. I have never personally laid eyes on a carbuerator in a 240 since Volvo stopped selling them here long before they did in your country.

I also don't know what Volvo varieties were available where you are to allow you to choose a different engine. If you wanted a more powerful engine with a turbocharger, you really need to replace the whole thing, so you wouldn't want to try to modify your current one for fuel injection. Here in North America, the last of the red blocks were put into 900 series cars. They were available with turbos and had the advantage of oil squirters, but were otherwise more or less standard B230s. You would need the whole setup including fuel pumps and computer, etc. Also, most 700-900 series cars had the the distributor mounted on the back of the engine, driven by the cam. That setup won't fit in a 240, so you would have to relocate the distributor to the side of the block. That can all be done, but it's a lot of work and you would really want to have a whole car (a wreck, most likely) to get all those parts from.
