How does a condenser die? 140-160 1973

Years ago, I spent hundreds of dollars at a professional garage trying to sort out why the car suddenly died on the freeway, and then sorta ran, sometimes, but really badly. They changed out all sorts of stuff and couldn't fix it.

It finally dawned on me to put in a new condensor -- I thought they never went bad and didn't change it each time I put in points -- and that was it.

Just change it and see if it makes a difference. What's it cost, anyway?
