grill surrounds 1800

Well, I got curious and pulled the ones I have off of the wall and took a good close look side by side, I can't see any difference between the one from an ES and the one from a '67.

I tried fitting both to my '67 which is undergoing restoration and the ES surround will require a little less effort to pull the ends in than the "stock" grill. Not a lot but it is a little better fit.

The plastic insert will not easily fit the older surrounds, it sticks in a bit farther than the grill mounting tabs allow so you would have to trim notches in it to convince it to fit.

All in all from side by side comparison it looks like the only change to cars that got the plastic insert was the removal of the mounting tabs for the metal grill.
