Does Strut Job Stress Out CA Bushings? 200

I've wondered whether pushing the control arm down far enough to get the strut assembly to clear the fender puts too much stress on the control arm bushings, especially if the bushings are marginal. I know lots of people use this method though, and it's shown in the Green Books, the IPD catalogue tech tips, and Bentley. I haven't seen a mention of taking extra care not to stress the CA bushings. I guess a good thing to do would be to use a jack and raise the assembly a bit after it clears the fender to take the stress off the CA bushings. I've also thought of loosening the control arm bushing bolts so the bushings are free to turn. Maybe none of this is necessary though if the CA bushings are sound to begin with. I'd be interested to hear other opinions on this. Has anyone damaged their CA bushings taking them so far beyond their normal range of movement when replacing struts?
