1991 940 turbo AW 71 no overdrive 900 1991

I got a lot of info from this forum regarding my 91 volvo 940 turbo aw71 transmission that wotn't go into overdrive. have changed OD relay and solenoid, checked fuse. still no overdrive. bought used transmission, does the same thing. is there anything else i should check. fluid had been done. Is there perhaps a temperature sensor that would have anything to do with it? I'm just not ready to put 1500 or more for a new transmission or dump the car. also does anyone no where I can get a electrical diagram for the transmission online?
