More Electrical Gremlins... 1990 240 - Instrument panel / gauges / losing charge 200

Help!!!!

My Volvo's electrical system has gone crazy. Here are the symptoms.

1) No Instrument Panel lights when parking lights / head lights are on.
2) Now the large tach has a mind of its own.
3) Speedo seems jumpy at low speeds.
4) Battery losing power by end of day. Had to trickle charge battery last night. Had battery and charging system checked today. Everything checked fine.
5) Alternator fan belt is very squeeky. Going in to shop tomorrow for all new belts (been awhile).
6) Rheostat seems to work fine and actually light behind center console and heater controllers works and dims with rheostat.

What should be my next step? Replace instrument panel with good boneyard version (or should I say, eBay boneyard!).

I have taken the instrument panel all the way out. Nothing looks burnt or friend. No funny smells of burnt wire. All was fine until the other day when I pulled my small clock assembly out to install my XM Radio that Santa brought me. The wires from the small clock were loose inside the dash for a little drive (Could the "Hot" side of that wire fried something?)

XM is connected to cigarette lighter socket and does not touch any of the "car's" integrated wiring.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ed
