Forum;
Please vote for your favorite or least least favorite (and tell us why in either case) Some names which come to mind are: Ballistol, BreakFree, Labella, Synth-Lube, Tri-Flo, WD40, 4in1 Oil, etc.. Feel free to add +/- comments from your experience.
I'll start:
I used WD for a while when it was relatively new ('70s), but no longer...its more of a solvent than lube (see below) I have never really gotten any long-term satisfaction from it...once the solvent evaporates, the film left behind is weak...for instance, treat a sticky lock with it, and it works fine (good effectiveness and instant gratification factor: High), but you can treat it again in a week...sorry, I just cant accept having to redo things that soon...now I prefer Tri-flo, Teflon containing, precision oil, a lot more...it sticks around a lot longer, I find the film strength to be much stronger, and the micro-Teflon particles it contains/leaves behind, seem to really extent the effective lube time.
Finally, while were on the subject: Does anyone have specifics on if WD40 contain DMSO (dimethyl-sulfoxide: (CH3)2=SO industrial solvent with underground arthritis uses due to its transdermal abilities) or not? On their site, they state the ingredients as "secret" (11 herbs and spices?), but eventually this info gets out (as competitors for instance perform mass spectroscopy and other tests to try to reverse-engineer the competition), plus the fact that there is quite a bit of anecdotal info out there about underground uses by people with joint pains, and being able to "taste" it as soon as it makes contact to skin even removed from the olfactory system...just like pure DMSO...I'd be interested in anectotal and verifyable info, links etc. Thanks
Cheers
