I have a 1996 960 Wagon with an ECU that has not reset itself since the PNP sensor acted up nearly a year ago in the cold of Montreal. The OBD II code was reset and the "check engine" light went out. The car runs fine but can't be tested on the emissions computer for the Inspection Sticker. My wife has been driving with a rejection sticker for several months. I understand Volvo had problems with their computer resetting in 1996 and 1997 requiring one follow a rigid driving ritual to reset the thing. If the problem was corrected in 1998 could I replace the 1996 ECU with a 1998 one and eliminate this "reset" glitch?
