bulb failure warning light

The system has components of the BFWS relay, the bulb-out light, and the wiring.

Certain lights are monitored pairs, that is the right side light paired with the left. On the 240, these are the tail lights, brake lights, and low beam headlights.

The relay monitors current draw for each pair. If the draw on the right side does not equal the draw on the left, the relay turns on the bulb out light.

So now you can check for things that make the current on one side differ from that of the other side, in the brake light circuits.

where to start? First, make sure that the ground wires for each tail light unit are solid contact. Then clean up the contacts of the brake light bulb holders, contacts where the bulb holder touches the circuit board.

Clean the bulb bases and tips to be sure no oxidation remains.

See if all this helps "clear" the BFWS (bulb failure warning system) light.
