i've done 2 clutches so far and it seems to me that i would get the tranny shaft lined up in in the hole with the whole of the trans tilted left so that the starter bulge is under the tunnel...then when you push the tranny on as far as it will go and then you'll have enough room to then rotate it into the correct position. 2 people and a huge floor jack make this process so much easier.
I finally figured out how to reach the top fastener with the trans hanging down without the cross member and using a 30" extension on my socket wrench..a wobble extension also helps with the angle but isnt necessary.
