I'm replacing the passenger side seat belt with a salvaged one that worked perfectly in the donor vehicle but now refuses to extend. It is presently fully retracted. Mcduck responded to my earlier post and suggested the mounting angle may be the culprit. So far today I have tried altering the angle of the mounting at the seat and moved the car to several different orientations on my slanted drivway (including in the level garage). Three hours now and I've nearly run out of patience. I've rebuilt engines and transmissions before but I've never had to mess with a seat belt. The frustration level is greater that what I experienced replacing my heater core last week! (a REAL pain...)

1. Is there something that I'm overlooking?
2. Could the mechanism have failed between the time I removed it from the donor car and installation in my brick?
3. Is there a holy grail of seat belt knowlege out there anywhere?
4. Will drinking beer help?

My wife doesen't particularly relish riding in the back seat.
