Replacing a/c compressor 1990-240

Hey board,
I converted my system to 134A a couple of years ago. Now, the compressor has a big leak and needs replacing. My question is how to approach this. What are the exact steps that I should take to insure a good outcome.
After I converted the system it operated "ok". But now, Im interested in more than ok. I want outstanding. I want icicles hanging off the end of my nose on a 100 degree day. How do I proceed in order to insure this outcome?

when the coversion was done the system was vacuumed downed and ester oil added.
A new reciever dryer as installed. System charged.

Im starting from scratch. I havent bought any parts yet.

All suggestions, observations welcomed.

Thanks

Lawrence
