Valve adjustment 120-130

I am about to attempt my first valve adjustment on my 65 122s. Any preference for engine temp? My manuals seem indefinite as long as clearance is .016"-018" int. and exh. Most of my tools are metric. Does anyone remember off-hand the wrench size required for the adjuster lock nut? I`ve got a new vc gasket. Just waiting for good weather and some undisturbed time! Thanks for any comments.
