Check Engine Light - No stored codes. 700 1992

Hello All,

I drive a '92 740 Turbo wagon nearing 200K miles. Check Engine Light came on just before xmas so tried downloading the error codes. When I insert the probe wire into outlet #6, per the FAQs, all I got was 1-1-1. But when I plugged the probe into outlet #2, I got 1-3-1, indicating the RPM sensor. Since it's a low cost item, I ordered a new one and replaced it over the weekend, but still have CEL on. What could be going on? There are no problems with how the engine is running, I just don't want that light on all the time. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!
