Water Pump Install Tip for 200s 200 1979

Installing a new water pump only to find out it leaks is disheartening. This is my fifth replacement and decided to lubricate those pesky rubber seals (2) with a wonderful compound I discovered called PASCO Faucet & Valve Grease (the paper gasket received Blue RTV). It is a magical leak inhibitor which works on household plumbing fixtures like nothing I’ve seen before. My new pump hasn't leaked a drop in a week and I tore my paper gasket to boot! I often tear that, but install it anyway as a rip or two doesn’t mean the end of the world. The smart thing to do is buy 5 spares BEFORE one begins (which I promptly forget everytime).

This grease is recommended for steam applications so heat is not a problem. I love this stuff and hope others discover it too. It comes in a red, 2 ounce container and costs only about $1.50 at plumbing supply stores.

Happy sealing,

Tim
