Idle Air Control Valve 200 1992

First of all I would like to thank eveyone for their help in the past 3 months. I am new at this and trying to do most of the investigation and work myself to keep the car in tip top shape.

I have a 1992 240GL with 88,000 miles and when upon start up there is no increase in idle speed until the engine is warmed up and then the idle reducing back to a normal speed. I stays at the lower RPM the whole time.

Could the IAC need to be cleaned, if so how and where it is located. Is this the item which control the above function of idle or is it something else.

I have checked all of the vacumn hoses and all seems to be in very good condition with no leaks.

The car has had the following installed "new"in the past month: plugs (gapped at 30), dist cap and rotor, timing belt, flame trap replalcement.

Thanks
Frank
