Closing off hot air into airbox - create 2 cold air intakes ? 200 1980

I haven't done it but - -

There's a plugged hole, about 3-4 inches diameter, on the passenger side of the radiator support bracket in the headlight area. Depending on your headlight setup, you might be able to break through that hole and poke an air hose through there to pick up air. Likely you will need a snorkel as used on the main air intake, to lead that new intake path out in front of the radiator where it can get some air.

Or, I think some of the turbo cars used an intake via the wheel well area. I don't know, but you could look into it.

Beware "Ram Air" approaches (that is, intake opening facing forward to pick up the incoming rush of air). It has been discussed elsewhere at length and the conclusions are
1) It will blow more dirt and water into your air box, which is quite inconvenient to open up and check, at least on the '86 + cars I've worked with.
2) At anything near full throttle and the upper range of RPMs, the oncoming rush of air is nowhere near the engine's appetite for air, so cannot possibly create any "poor man's turbo" effect.
3) At the lower range of throttle and RPMs, the improved availability of air to the intake probably does improve performance or throttle response.

That said, I also plan an enlarged intake. I'm currently part way through a headlight mod on my '89 which is opening up space in the grill area, which will allow larger intake tubing or whatever I can come up with. You definitely want to avoid directing the intake tubing downwards as you'll likely suck up a puddle, snowbank or sand dune one day, with potentially catastrophic results. Water is very dangerous, as it does not compress, and the rods end up bending instead. Sand and snow aren't good for it either.
