Here is an interesting problem. Two weeks ago, my 240 would not start after sitting for a couple of days. The weather was wet and cool. Wet like a couple days of rain. I didn't have time to fool with it and had it towed to a local shop that I have had good luck with. The diagnosed a bad crank sensor and it came home and ran fine for about 10 days. The crank sensor has not been replced before.
Last Friday I drove my truck to work and the car sat. It rained hard and was very foggy. Another wet nasty day. Saturday morning, no start. Over night and most of today has been dry and windy. I came home a litle bit ago, stuck the key in and it started right up.
Now its nice that its running, but this means that there is some sort of wet induced problem. Great; it has a chance of leaving me somewhere.
What do you guys think in terms of things to go looking for? Its an 89 240 with 207K. It had a complete tune up with cap, roter, wires, and plugs at 152K in July of 03. That was in response to the last time it gave me starting problems. Eventually tracked that down to the fuel pump relay which was replaced in Sept 03. There have been no other starting problems until now.
Can anybody give me a idea of the most likely things to look for?
