Kickdown cable replacement.

Arch,

The hardest part can be removing the tranny pan/filler pipe. Not a difficult job. Here's the 700/900 AW kickdown cable replacment instructions.

http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/TransmissionAuto.htm#Kickdown_Cable_Replacement

While found in the FAQ 700/900 it deals with the AW70/71 auto box, the same automatic transmission used in the 240. Same procedure. Good Luck.
