Jeff:

I do drop the SU needle seat a couple of flats in the winter. That being said, a properly working choke is critical to smooth running until the engine comes up to normal operating temp.

I have had excellent results replacing choke cable sheathing with high performance bicycle brake cable sheathing. The inner part of the sheathing is coated with nylon which allows for very smooth and positive operation.

1. Loosen set screw at carb end of choke cable.
2. Back off cable clamp nut at carb.
3. Pry cable clamp ears apart.
4. Pull cable off of carb.
5. Loosen clamp under dash on choke actuating arm.
6. Pull choke cable sheath off of cable from carb end.
7. Slide on new cable sheath from carb end.
8. Reverse steps 5 through 1.
