Crazy Scary Idle Issues 200

The 245 5spd with 230k started idling very rough, and now the thing is randomly going into fast idle speed, even when driving at normal engine temp. I now know what it must have been like to drive an 80's Audi - the car does scary unintended acceleration. When things like this happen, my flawed motto has always been "she's old - must need new parts". In other words, the package from Groton arrives with a new idle air control. During the install, I clean the TB, flame trap, etc. I check for vacuum leaks with gauge (readings good). I clean and lube connections to IAC and the TPS. Temp guage shows fine.

Test ride. NO good! Same crazy revving. 2nd package with new TPS and temp sensor due to arrive soon.

Am I missing something here?
