electrical gremlins 200

Hey all

Got a 1980 240 DL, 2.1 B21a

Anyways, so im driving along today and then the AMP light comes up.

Now normally this would signify the alternator is not charging would it not?. BUT, my voltmeter says its still pumping out a strong 14.2 volts with just about everything going.

However, all other idiot lights are dead and the gauges dont work either.

Obviously, something is loose. I restarted the engine a few times, and then the idiot lights come back , guages work and teh AMP light goes out and all is fine.

Anyone know which wire(s) i should be looking for?

Thanks in advance!
