1990 740 gle bulb failure sensor location 700 1990

I have had some wonderful help on here regarding the failure of all three of my brakelights. everyone that has helped has pointed me in the direction of the bulb failure sensor - but no one has had a 700 from 1990, and the location and how to get to that location on the 90 is still up in the air. can anyone assist in this?

I thought it was behind the ashtray in the center console, but i am having a devil of a time getting the ashtray out.
