Oil in Coolant 200 1986

So I have this 86 240 wagon that I've been driving the pants off of for the last 12 years. The odometer is broken but I'd guess 300 thou on her. Anyway...My coolant is contaminated with oil. Whenever I get out of the car, I get a nose full of coolant smell but I don't see any leaks and don't really smell it when I pop the hood and poke around. The radiator was replaced this summer because the mechanic thought he saw some transmission fluid in the coolant. I do not see any evidence of coolant in the oil or transmission. I'm thinking it's a head gasket but wanted to run it by you guys before I tore into it. Any links to advice on replacing the head gasket would be appreciated.

Cheerio,

Lewis
