Rapping start up 444-544

You replaced the crank gear but not the cam gear? Sounds backwards to me!
Or if you replaced a steel gear with a fiber gear there would have been
a big difference in pitch - might not have even fit together.

I wonder if your oil pump or some bad seal or valve in the system is reducing
your oil flow and it takes that long to get oil all the way to the
rocker arms. When dry they make a lot of noise. You can probably confirm this
by starting with the oil cap off and listening there. Also it won't look
very oily there, while it is usually QUITE oily.
