Brake noise/dust, 1995 960 900 1995

My brakes have been making a lot of noise for a while now. There appears to be nothing wrong with them. Maybe the rear pads are close to needing to be replaced, but what is bugging me is coming from up front. I took it in to those thiefs at Midas, they gave me a $1000 (no joke) estimate for the brakes and front end. That is irrelevant, they were blowing hot air and their diagnosis had other motives. Anyway, i went later on to pull the wheel of and jack the car up, but those idiots had torqued it with an impact wrench to probably 100 ft-lbs. Didnt have a high quality lug wrench at the time, so i wasnt able to take them off with the exception of the front drivers wheel.

OK, i will finally get to the point. There is probably 3 or 4 times as much brake dust on the passenger front wheel as there is on the driver's. I wash the car weekly, and it often looks like the wheels havent been touched in 2 or 3 weeks, at least the front passenger wheel. As for the sound, there are a lot of them. Dont know how to describe them, there is a chirp at one point, i hear it every time the wheel rotates when i am at low speed. Rotors appear to be in good shape, but the brakes are so damned noise i really dont know what to do.

New pads maybe? I dont need autocrosser-spec pads, just quiet ones. What pads are good?
